SUBARU SUBARU SUBARU
We love buying and selling Subaru's and now offer repair services after going through many, learning how they work and what parts work. More detailed Prices to come soon but offering timing belt and head gasket specials with many options to suit your desires and budgets.
EJ25 2.5l SOHC
Timing belt, belt change only with labor on 2.5 single cam $195
Dual cam or Turbo 2.5 $295
SPECIAL, do it smart and do it once. Change all idler pulleys, tensioner, and belt with Subaru parts for $425 on SOHC!
DOHC or Turbo for $562.50 (belt is twice as much and extra idler/labor cause for price difference)
Why do it all? The recommended timing belt service is 105,000 and most shops will do just the belt, maybe the tensioner if it's leaked excessive oil or been damaged from not being compressed properly. That will be fine for a while but that leaves the 3 idlers (and tensioner if not done) to go 210,000 total miles without fail. These items have sealed bearings and are not servicable. I have seen one ilder fail so far with everything else in perfect shape at guess what, 105,xxx miles! These are interference engines meaning if a timing related part fails at speed most likely there will be piston to valve contact and that gets expensive quick! The chances of all parts making it that many miles is a pretty risky gamble and I recommend doing the whole service while your in there.
Water pumps are a different story. Always good to replace in a situation where the pump runs off the timing belt like a Subaru but failure at any mileage is rare for a Subaru, even ask your local Subaru garage how many pumps they see fail. That said, if the budget allows there is no good reason not to do the pump.
Cam and crank seals are extra, if found to be leaky or showing signs of starting, now is the time to do it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Newer Subaru seals seem to be pretty durable and are much improved over the early years so it's seen less, but does happen.
$1000 and up depending on condition of heads upon removal. All new OE or top quality gaskets throughout, heads milled flat and tested.
Subaru EJ25 with just over 100k miles. Notice the holes in the timing belt cover from a belt or debris rubbing. This was not noticable with all the accessories on the engine! This engine ran perfect and was in for head gaskets/timing belt as preventative maintenance. You never know what you will find. Look below for what the idlers and tensioner looked like. If one of these fails the engine will bend valves and possibly worse requiring expensive repair.
Cleaned belt area and all new OEM belt and rollers.
Heads are always tested and milled flat for a true and fresh gasket surface. We use what we believe is an upgraded head gasket over factory to insure it doesn't need to be done again!
Every part is OEM or better, no cheap chinese substitutes!
